In my opinion i think de la hoya is going to beat him. People are judging de la hoya just cause of his age. But when he beat mayorgas a** nasty i got faith in him and i think he could do the same with mayweather since hes talking sh*t just like mayorga did.

Give me yalls opinion.

Comparing DLH beating up on Mayorga has NOTHING to do with this fight. Mayorga is a lucky, underskilled club fighter, that got lucky when he got in Vernon Forrest's head. That was really a confidence builder for DLH than anything.

Floyd Mayweather is every nightmare DLH has ever had in an opponent, wrapped in one.

Point: DelaHoya's premier moments have been against FIGHTERS, not boxers. Trinidad, Vargas, those guys were fighters. Any person that DLH fought that had a vague amount of skill, he lost to. Remember, DLH is a fighter/boxer. He doesnt know so much about the science of boxing, so much as he knows how to really set up his punches....Floyd has forgotten more about boxing than DLH has ever learned.

POINT: DelaHoya has an open problem with speed. Shane frustrated the hell out of DLH, and Shane CANT BOX. Shane is just fast. Floyd is much faster..and again, a much better boxer.

Finally..CORNER: DLH chose Freddy Roach to be in his corner instead of Floyd senior. Major mistake. Freddy is a respectable trainer, but not enough to give DLH a plan against Floyd. Not to mention, you usually dont get a new trainer against a premier fighter.

I gotta believe Oscar will show his age in this one, and Floyd Maywhether isn't going to give Oscar the opportunity to land the type of shots that put Mayorga away. Floyd is a class above Mayorga, and in his prime, and Oscar is past his. That coupled with Maywhether Sr. jumping ship (a psychological plus for Jr. and an obvious minus of Oscar) lean in favor of Floyd.

Oscar is still one of boxing's greats, and with a left hook like he has will be a force in boxing for as long as he wants. It's not a lock by any means for Maywhether, Floyd is the smaller man coming up in weight to meet a bigger Oscar. If he gets careless, DeLa Hoya can still hurt him, I just don't see Maywhether getting careless. If Floyd watched the tapes of Shane Mosely vs Oscar DeLa Hoya, he has the blue print to beat Oscar. Punching power is the only question mark, and we will see in May who the best pound for pound in boxing really is.

Blogbaba picks Maywhether by decision.

Great question. This is how I see it panning out...

This fight comes with a lot of risk for Floyd, as he could potentially be knocked out. Although he probably won't admit it, Floyd has to be wary of Oscar's punching power, and will be training to counteract and nullify that.

I, however, don't think Floyd will be knocked out.

Floyd has the superior speed, and I think he will use it to run from Oscar. Floyd has said in press conferences that he will not run from Oscar, but then again, he said he would knock out Baldomir in 5 rounds.

Also, De La Hoya has proved everything he has to in boxing. Mayweather has yet to, on account that he hasn't been severely tested yet. Up to this point, he's just been too good for everyone.

Not many people expect Floyd to win, but I think Floyd will be wary/ scared of De La Hoya's power, and will show. Floyd will box from a distance, and pot shot and counter punch his way to a split decision win over De La Hoya.

Dude, Floyd is not stupid, he can talk all the crap he wants, but he's not going to stand toe to toe and fight Oscar, he's going to run. It will be like a Lion chasing a Gazelle, and the Lion will eventually hunt down the Gazelle and eat him in 10 rounds!

Mayweather will probably do enough moving and hitting in the fight to win but I would like to see DeLaHoya win.

Pretty Boy's speed should earn him a decision
