I recently got into a small arguement with an eveangelical fellow in my english class about life on other planets, galaxies, etc. I said there definately was, he said definately not, and while my opinion cannot be shifted no matter how much information you throw at me, I still wonder this; is it a common belief for eveangelical Christians to believe earth is the only planet that has life on it, and is this belief true of other religions as well?

If the universe is infinite then the chance of other sentient beings is an infinite percent---therefore there are others. That we are transcendent and alone would be something like .000000000000000000001%
Its all ego when you hang with Christian fanatics. They're nothing but walking egos that couldn't handle have equals or betters.

I am a christian, but not evangelical.
I believe in life on other planets etc... because the Bible talks about the sons of God coming for a meeting (Job) so where do you think they came from. And we are definately not the only planet God created. We are just the only one that fell for sin and are now in this mess. I do not, however, believe in aliens and weird monsters from places like mars

Surely it is because their god never said anything about there beeing life on other planets. of course you and i know this absolutely rediculous, but tell them that.
If every star is a solar system
and every solar system has for example at least 3 planets
and if the milky way galaxy, a huge collection of all the stars we can see including our own has billions and trillions of stars containing solar systems and planets...
Your going to tell me that not one of those planets can harbor life? Ahh right, just because your magical sky man didnt say so - it can't be true. Fools.

There are a few bible texts which refer to hosts in the heavens. As a Christian, I do believe that this is not the only planet where life exists. Proof? No, but that's what I believe these texts refer to.

The sun is life, its converting hydrogen to helium and everything lives because of that process so of course there is life, the entire Universe is alive, an organism on a grand scale

Well, since there is no proof of life on other planets how can you say there is. Of course Christians don't believe there is because there is no proof. However, if God chose to put life on another planet, why should we be against it.

Well, if you read a lot of these questions and the answers, it is pretty obvious that a lot of people don't live in this world.
