Depression is caused by a lack of sertonion and norephierine in the body. These are mostly caused by a lack of hormonal balance.

In the psych classes I took in college, most depression was said to be cause by depletion of certain chemicals in the brain. I suppose if someone had a genetic problem manufacturing the chemicals then you could say it's genetic.

its not caused my the genes in your unless you have a family history of depression like it does in mine. but depression is just the lack of serotonin in the body. simple things like working out, running and things like that can boost the amount of serotonin in the body. but if you try that and it isnt working you may want to see a doc about it and they can put you on a SSRI or MAOI.

Hi.
In my research they say that some people whose family members may have had depression have a greater risk of getting depression themselves.
Some get depression based on their issues. Its really hard to say and I'm trying to figure mine out.

It does run in families. However you CAN get depression even without a family history of it. And just because several people in your family have it, does not mean you WILL get it.
It does run in my family, but I have gotten it the worse of anyone.
