In response to Kimmer K ..taking in protein after workouts is very cruicial..your body is striving for nutrients after a tough workout and will absorb and digest the most after a workout

whey protein has different fractions, there is whey protein concentrate (WPC) and whey protein isolate (WPI). isolates have more protein per serving as the fat, ash, etc. has been removed. this goes for soy as well.

milk isolates are the combination of whey and casein. and there is also egg white protein.

pre & post workout: WPC or WPI or egg white protein (they have the highest amounts of branched chain amino acids) BCAA's are metabolized directly by skeletal muscle. on an empty stomach when consumed with water they can hit the bloodstream in 15-20 minutes.

all other times a blended protein which contains whey/casein/egg white protein is optimum. the amino acid profiles of each complement the other and make for a longer, more sustained release of amino acids into the portal bloodstream.

One survey (the yank Dietetic affiliation, i think) stumbled on that adults vegetarians interior the US popular 151% of the protein they want... in different words, a lot! sturdy supplies contain soy and soy products (tofu, tvp, edamame, meat analogs,) beans and different legumes (peas, peanuts, lentils, chickpeas,) entire grains and grain products, nuts and seeds, even eco-friendly vegetables have protein.

If you are a guy, AVOID soy protein. It will lower your testosterone levels. Whey is excellent. Of course, milk based protein is fine if your not allergic to it.
