The previous answer is close, but it's backward.

There are several kinds of dwarfism, but the most common is called achondroplasia. Dwarf individuals tend to have average sized heads and torsos, but very short arms and legs. Primordial dwarfs (very rare) are proportioned more like average sized people, but are very very tiny, usually less than 3 feet.

A midget will tend to have the same proportions as an average sized person, only smaller. (generally under 4'6" as an adult, but the standard varies. Unless there's a medical condition causing their short stature, it's not really a medical diagnosis as much as it is a societal distinction.

midgets are small, but ot of porportin. dwarfs are just little people, liek they are normal aside from their size.
