To me, a 5-10 year age difference is too old. But be careful until you turn 18. Your guy could be charged with staturtory, since he's 18 going on 19 (an adult) and you're 15 going on 16.

Sweetie, once you are over 18, then age "ain't nothing but a number" and the difference is totally up to you. Since you AREN'T over 18, and HE IS, the age difference is HUGE. First of all, he could be in line for statuatory rape. It is illegal for him to do anything with you except be at the same place with you at the same time. Second, and you will realize this when you get a little older, he shouldn't even be putting himself in a position to ask out girls under 18. It may seem okay with you now, but you will eventually realize that what he is doing isn't right

When I was barely 19, I met a very pretty girl that was 16. We liked each other from the start, and she wanted to go out with me, but she said that her parents would have to approve first. Then she asked me to come meet her parents. I did, and they liked me too. They said it was OK to go out with her, but be careful.
We dated for eight months, then broke up. So I would say that if the girls parents approved the guy, then the age gap of only three years would be alright. Also, it depends on how mature both of them are.
Some girls at 16 act like little kids of 12, while other girls of 16 act more like a 20 year old. Maturity has a lot to do with it.

The age gap tends to lessen as one gets older. In your teens, 1 to 3 years is good, more than 4 normally gets it's share of disapproval.
Yet in your teens - it becomes a different matter when one is over the age of 18 and then again at 21 - technically if you indulge in premarital sex - it is against the law, regardless of how long you have been together.

If you were 18 and he was 23 that would be OK. At 16 you are too young for a 19 yr old. At 18 you will be an adult.

Normally you are just maturing into your sexuality this boy being 3 years older when you are 15 is like being 20 years older when you are 20! He has light years on you in manipulative coercion to serve his hormones! And believe me he doesn't care how you will feel after he has his needs met! Go with a boy your age. You will be sorry if you don't.

if your having sex then both of you are commiting a crime. Anyone under 16 cannot legally consent to sex so in that respect he's too old.
Also because of where your lives are it could be difficult.
him going to college and/or working, and you going to highschool. They're both very different lifestyles and can lead to confrontation.
Also if your living somewhere where the leagal drinking age is 18 or 19 he'll be wanting to go to bars and clubs, or just drink in general. If you plan on doing that as well he can also get in trouble for supplying alcohal to a minor.

The rule of thumb is. divide the guys age by two and add seven to that. 18 divided by two is 9 plus 7 is 16 so I guess you are ok. I think it works better for adults though. You sound kind of youngs to be thinking about that.

I dont think ages matters cause I like this guy and were 8 yrs apart Im 20 and hes 28 and that dont stop us. But it'll be better if you were older like 18.
But move on cause there are other guys out there around your age who are just as good and plus... that 19 yr old could be using u for just one thing
