Until April what, April 1st? If so that is not a lot of time!!

1. Do a search online for free fund raising ideas, there thousands of them, pick the ones you can do quickly.
2. Post a blog entry about it.
3. Join some community and fund raising forums and website and post your message there.
4. Email your friends with the information and ask them to forward the email to others.
5. Post flyers with the information on bulletin boards and other charity sites.

Good luck!

Here are basic fundraising ideas:
Here are some ideas:
- get flowers/cards and have people pay to send them to each other in class. So they'll sign up with you for a week and then on that friday you'll bring around the cards/flowers to people who are recieving them.
- bingo night
- fashion show
- dance contest or dance off (dance contest is who can dance the best and dance off is who can dance the longest but still dance well)
- mock of american idol
- comedy night
- open mic. night (have an open microphone and people can get up and read poetry, play music, etc.. as they please)
- run/walk and you can get donations per mile ran/walked
- petting zoo (find people in the community with different kinds of pets)
- someone can teach a craft
- game show night (copy some game show like family fued)
- bake sale
- raffle
- sponsors from local businesses
- movie night
- social
- culture night, you can have drums from all different cultures. This would be so fun. Most cultures have different drums.
- culture food night or just regular dinner. Have people make different dishes. This always makes money, people love food.
Get some entertainment for that night too. It could be a big hit.

Here is a more complex fundraising idea:
I've had experience fundraising. I've raised 12,000 $ at a time, more than once for local events. This is how I do it.

Write a letter to local businesses and universities/colleges.
Write a general letter but be professional stating who you are and what you are doing. At the end make sure to say you will write them a receipt for their donation so they can write it off with their taxes and that you will promote them in some way. At the end of the letter or on a seperate sheet of paper provide an itemization of expenses (list your expenses and their approximate costs) be sure to state that any donation would be accepted.
Tips: the more letters you send out the more money you will make, the earlier you send them the more money you will make, universities are a great source of money but be sure to send to all departments in the university, start with local businesses (the home grown type) then branch out to more well known places, start with businessed pertaining to your need, ask for things besides money (always include money but you can ask for other things as well such as sports equipment), if you know the manager of the store address the letter to them although this is not necessary, follow up in person if you have the resources although this is not necessary.
I'm telling you this really really works. And copy shops will usually donate copies to you so that you don't have to pay the expense of copying your letters. If it is an annual event you can usually depend on regular contributers after the first year so be sure to send out thank you letters.

Have a "weigh off" in your local community. Everyone shows up for "weigh in" day and has 30 days to diet. Entry fee is 50.00 to be split with the fundraiser, winner takes the pot, the rest goes towards the entry fee/donation.
