HepB and HepC are caused by viruses. HepB is transmitted mainly through sex while HepC is transmitted through blood. Many IV drug users get infected with HepC. Both gradually cause liver damage to the point where a liver transplant is needed. Both can also cause liver cancer, which can spread and lead to cancer in other organs.

In addition, both HepB and HepC can damage a part of your kidneys called glomeruli, which help to filter your blood. As a result, you can lose protein from your blood into your urine, as well as other nutrients and sometimes even blood cells. Over time, your kidneys can also fail.

In short, don't do drugs and have unprotected sex.

Hepatitis-B will damage the Liver first, but H-B people are prone to have more medical complications (in kidneys, bladder stones) in his or her later years.
Hepatitis B is a very contiguous disease, and it's not curable, and expensive to get treatment.
FYI: Hepatitis B is much more contiguous than HIV.
Hepatitis B is considered a STD, but it can be innocently passed on his or her tears, body fluids (included menstrual bloods, fences) when he or she still have onset/acute HP-B.
If that H-B person doesn't have good hygiene, the people around may be infected.
Fact: many western countries (USA, Australia, Canada) won't accept immigrants w/ Hepatitis B.
Good luck! Hope you don't catch either of them.

yes! hcv or hbv are not just viral infections that specifically infect the liver-they only need the liver as it's host to reproduce it's virons.

hcv virons as well as hbv virons are found in all tissues of the body.

when the liver is not functioning properly, the virons find other places to go which in turn, overload them.

that is why i tell folks seeking 'cure alls' that they are just prolonging the inevitable....if your infected, seek treatment options!!!

have you been tested and what did your liver lab show? a reminder: for those who's alt and ast levels are in normal limits, you can still have liver disease such as hcv! get tested!
good luck!
