So, now you know about BAH.

The real question is: will you be able to keep your house. If you are single, the military will provide housing and food for you. Your paycheck will be for what YOU want to use it for. You should be making enough with your base pay to make your house payments. During BT, you will only "need" about $100 per month (haircut, personal hygiene items). You won't have a lot of time to go shopping, so all your money can go into your bank, OR you can set up an allotment and have your mortgage taken directly out of your paycheck.

I would make three recommendations.

1. Refinance your mortgage to obtain a lower payment. Yes, it will take longer to pay off, but you can write off the interest and any repairs/upkeep to the house. You can always make an "extra" payment, if you have the money, to the principal of the loan. This will help in paying the house off early.

2. Find that you find a good property manager and rent the house out. If you do that, tho, put the money into a savings account and DON'T TOUCH IT!!! You may need it later to make reparations to the house (Personal experience).

3. Get a good accountant, and let them do your taxes.

It depends.

If you are married or have minor children living in your household, then you're automatically eligible to receive BAH to cover your living costs if you choose not to wait for base housing. The BAH will be based on your rank, the number of dependents you have, and the average living cost in the zip code to which you are assigned.

If you are single with no dependents, you can still receive BAH. Most services require that soldiers are above a certain rank. I believe in the Army, single Specialist E-4 and higher are allowed to live off-base and receive BAH for their living expenses. In the Navy, I believe it's E-5 or higher, but I may be mistaken.

Ok, alittle more info to answer the question you really have.

If you are married, you will get BAH.

If you are single, you will not get BAH.

But, you are only going to get one BAH, so you will have use that BAH to pay for two sets of living quarters.

IE:

The house you own now

and the housing you will live in while in the military.

The military will not pay you BAH and provide housing for you at the same time.

Except while in boot/basic, advanced training, on a ship or deployed.

When you are not deployed, you are going to have to cover
TWO rents, the house you own and where you live at your post or base.

If you're enlisted you need to be married to be eligible for BAH off the bat. If you are not married you are not eligible until you make the rank of E5. OCS is different and even then you have to be done with school I believe to get it on the officer side. For OCS you have to already have your BA or BS degree and be selected to join the Navy for an officer program.

I was in the Navy and I was single and had no dependants and I recieved BAH and lived out in town...of course I had to request it and send a chit through my command. but either way you are only going to get BAH if you have a fam or live off base....which case, mopre than likely not be able to pay for your house that you have now by BAH alone.

as long as you are married and live off base you get it you can go to marinonline to see the bahs for each state your wife would have to live in your home and you would get the bah for that state or you can list an apartment or rental house where you two live while you are in the service but if you move to onbase housing you wont get the bah
also if you get deployed you will get other pays including seperation pay

BAh starts the day you leave for basic and continues as long as you are on active duty, as long as you are married or have dependents in your care such as children. No dependents equals no bah.

Here are the breakdowns. Single BAH is granted on a case-by-case (usually if you are at a duty station with limited housing) and changes depending on current duty station. You would have to have dependents (and be sending it to them to maintain bills) to keep a home you already have.

Depends if you are married

If you are married you would get it immediately as you are required to provide housing for your family. BAH

If you are not...the military will provide housing for you. No BAH

the military is a microcosm of the U. S. inhabitants as an finished. He distinction being the classic soldier is a lengthy way extra knowledgeable than the classic civilian. If Lincoln had stated a similar ingredient about the warriors contained in the Civil conflict might want to it nevertheless carry authentic as we talk? Vietnam replaced into 40 years in the past. It replaced right into a thoroughly distinct time with an quite distinct mentality than we've as we talk. @ merely me, it truly is by no potential what i replaced into saying. i replaced into saying how the authorities and the final inhabitants considered military servicemen on the time. no longer that their view replaced right into a correct one. once you've been on the following for awhile you would possibly want to know that i'm consistently protecting Vietnam vets and the sacrifices they made on the following.
