1. i'm very good with computers but i'd like to see some action
2. I wouldn't be a good "shock trooper" cause I have panic atacks and might compromise my comrades
3. i'd like a branch with cool sounding rank names and battle dresses!
also, I have an unrelated question, does the military allow a outside item such as a swiss army knife to be carried?

If your panic attacks are in your medical records or you are on meds for them, you will need a medical waiver to join any branch and then you wont be eligible for certain jobs. ifyoure looking to sham, i would say air force. Basic is easier, living quarters are better, and deployments are much shorter.

First, by asking you show interest in serving.
You need to ask yourself 'why do I want to serve?'. After honestly answering this question to yourself, deciding on a particular service will be made much easier.
Computer skills are utilized in every branch, but probably more so in the air force and navy. To 'see some action' would be army or Marines. All services have differing rank and rate designations and that would be a matter of personal preference. The Marines by far have the best uniforms. And yes you can augment your equipment with open market gear to a certain extent after boot camp/ basic training. Combat is extremely stressing and with a tendency for panic attacks may not bode well.

I think that you better go the Marines. The Army is a bit more low tech. You won't even be able to make a phone call to your mother and father for about 3 months so I doubt you can have a Swiss Army knife even if it your lucky one. You also will probably not like the military much unless you are entering as an officer which requires that you have at least a four year degree and have already completed college ROTC or OCS.

How old are you? Have you completed college? ASVAB score? Criminal record? The military will not just let any one in!! Also w/ a history of panic attacks and more than likely meds you will not get into any branch unless you get a waiver for it stating that this is a non-factor currently other than that you really sound like a no-go.... but you always can talk to a recruiter.

I'm in the US Coast Guard...If you like working with the public and assisting in law enforcement as well as search and rescue I would suggest you give it a shot...It's an often over looked branch, transferring from the Marines to the Coast Guard it has been a great experience for me...I love the people I work with and If you desire to go overseas, those options are available.
I would not recommend joining the military because of looking cool, because it's flashy, or because of bonuses...
Just be careful...

I would say none because your panic attacks might endanger your comrades. But if i had to answer i would say the airforce or navy as a computer technician. That way your out of the line of fire most of the time. The military wont allow you to carry anything that isn't standard issue unless you permission. You should ask your local recruiting offices.

You should join the Republican Guard. You can carry one swiss army knife and they have a lovely selection of battle dresses. Put one on and you will find some action in the right neighborhood.

1 The military does have jobs that specialize in IT specialties, I wasn't one, so I don't know exactly what all the responsibilities.
2 "Panic attacks" and "wanting to see action" don't go well together so it may be a good idea to stay clear combat roles.
3 "Seaman" and "petty officer" names suck so if that's a problem, stay away from the Coast Guard and Navy.
4 Often, yes.

Let's see.... Do you want to kill people on the ground? Join the army. Do you want to kill people from the sea? The navy is for you. Or perhaps you prefer to kill people from the air. Then go with the air force.
