He likes you in the beginning, and then like a couple months later when you say "I think we'll make good friends" he doesn't even talk to you anymore. Why don't guys just accept the friendship?

Usually the beginning of the relationship is good, both people really do like each other and have a good time. As time goes on you get more comfortable with one another and you get to see what the person's really like that's really when a person desides if they like the person or not.
"I think we'll make good friends" means I don't think it's working but I don't want to hurt your feelings. Alot of guys find it akward to be around ex girlfriends, and alot of the time new girlfriends get jelous or intimidated when a guy is still friends with an ex so generally it's usually safer to just stop seeing that person all together.

No guy wants to be told that he would make a better friend than a companion. It is a blow to the ego, no matter what situation it is. It is the equivalent to when a guy asks for your number and he says that he is going to call you but he never calls. You feel pretty hurt. I think that you need to be sympathetic to his situation and let him deal with it the way he needs to. Maybe after time he will see feel better and want to become your friend.

Because he doesn't look at you as a friend. If someone you knew out of the blue suddenly altered your relationship do you think you could adjust just like that? Try having some emotions.

He probably feel like he has been let down. He wants more out of the relationship than what you are giving.
