Has anyone got any opinions/experience with these. I currently have RST Gila SL's on my bike and are looking at upgrading.

How do these two forks compare against one another?

I don't know about the Judy, it just seems one of the low end offerings from Rock Shox.

However, the Tora is, I think, a very good option. I don't know about price difference, but probably you can find some good options. Pricepoint has the 318 one for 280:

they have the tora 302 for 200 bucks.

Of this two, I would go for the 318 because it has a motion control damping, which helps on the flats. It also has the poplock, which is a remote locking mechanism.

I don't know the difference between the Tora and Recon. Well, the Recon is lighter, but I don't know what you loose in return.

Above this, would be the Reba and Revelation. They are very, very good forks for the price, but are above 400 bucks. The Reba is a 4" fork, and the Revelation is a 5" travel. Both forks have the U-Turn feature that lets you play with the amount of travel. The Reba goes from somewhere around 85 to 115mm, while the Revelation goes 100 to 130mm of travel for their U-Turn versions.

Pike is a slightly larger version than the Revelation, but uses a 20 mm front hub, and has like 10mm more travel (from 100 to 140mm travel).

Above this there are the new ones, Lyric, Totem.

But it just depends on what bike you have and what you want to do.

I'm guessing from the fork you have, you'll be better staying at 100mm travel, so I would be looking at a Tora or a Reba can be a very good option.

I have a Revelation and it's a very good fork.

About the Judy, I think it's discontinued (it isn't in Rock Shox page http://www.sram.com/en/rockshox/index.php), and from the reviews I've seen and reports from a friend, nothing impresive.

The Rockshock is not bad, but not great at this price range. It is better than the RST. However, the R3 is better than the 2(Magnesium lowers and lock out). I would look at a Mazzocki, or similar though. You should be able to get a reasonable upgrade for about £150 -£200.

if your using the fork the way it is suppose to be used you should be fine but if you bump it up one level it snaps ive seen it happen many times personally i would never ride a rockshox
