LMAO!!! GOOD DOG!!!!
Being a "pit" has NOTHING to w/it!
Coons are VERMIN! ANY dog worth feeding should try to remove vermin!
I HUNT/WORK coon w/my dogs & they're only 10-13 lbs!

It has nothing at all to do with the fact that it is a pitbull, dogs have instincts to hunt and kill, all breeds do.
1) the coon came in to the dogs territory (his cage)
2) The racoon then procedded to run about the dogs cage.
3) The poor dog is caged.
Obviously any dog would chase it and kill it aswell if it is in with the dog int he dogs territory.

The dog was doing what comes naturally. Why do you think dogs take all that time marking their territory? The coon is a vermin and shouldn't have entered the dogs space. If vermin came on my property I would expect my dogs to at the very least chase it off.

pitbulls where knew to chase after coons. they werent scared of the coons or anything... they were knew to take down groundhogs and other animals... it doesnt mean they are mean or anything. I have a pitbull myself and i live on a mountain and i have had coons come... he would go after them and kill them. protecting the property and coons are knew to attack dogs... but eatting the coon is kinda odd. my dog just kills it and lets it lay... hopefully ur neighbors dog dont get any after eatting it... and DP! not all pitsbulls are aggresive. u put a coon in a kennel with any kind of dog... its gonna attack it and kill it.... all dogs are like that. protecting the property... and plus like one person said... it was probably trained to hunt. people train pitbulls to hunt for coons, groundhogs and other animals... shot my pap has begles and we train them to attack rabbits

It has nothing to do with what type of animal it was or what breed of dog.
My sweet-tempered mix-breed lab attacked an opossum once.
What happened is that the kennel is the dog's territory. When the raccoon entered it, he was crossing the line and invading the dog's territory. So the dog attacked.
Dogs are not mean-spirited. They don't do things to be mean, or because they don't like something. It's instinctual. The dog saw the raccoon as a potential threat, so he naturally defended its territory.

The same reason my beagle chases squirrels. Dogs have an instinct to hunt.
Now, if the dog shows the same aggression toward people, that's a problem. Otherwise, it was just because that's what they do.

ok pitbulls are very very loyal and very territorial animals, the raccoon came into the dogs territory, and the dog defended its territory, its that simple. many many dogs would have done the same thing. regardless of breed.

It really has nothing to do with the fact that it was a pitbull.I have two dogs that are both part border collie. And you know what? They'd do the same thing. Most dogs in general would.

I don't think that pitbulls like many animals. My pitbull always likes to chase birds, rabbits, raccoons, groundhogs, deer, and just about any other animal that she sees. As for your question, I don't think that you can say pitbulls dislike raccoons, but rather that they are naturally inclined to hunt other animals; raccoons being one of them.
