Hi
Boxers can have heart problems from birth which only show up during a heart scan.
A vet will not automaticly check for this unless you ask them to.
Many boxers can live normal apparently healthy lives and they can die suddenly for no apparent reason.
I would imagine your boxer had some sort of heart murmur and this is what eventualy took him away from you.
The best idea when getting a dog is to check out possible problems with the breed and once you know the possibles read up on it so you are fully imformed of the possiblities.
I am sad to hear about your loss and hope you may come to terms with it soon and be able to move on.
Peace to you x

I agree with Dark_reaction. This happened to an Irish Setter I had years ago. Playing, jumping around, a great day then that night, acted bloated, miserable...got him to the vet but stomach had flipped and the gases inside quickly destroyed the stomach lining. No real warning and nothing could be done. It happens a lot in deep chested dogs. I never fully get over the pets I've lost but eventually another comes into my life and makes it a lot easier. Sorry for your loss. Just had to have one of ours put down due to cancer.

It sound sort of like a poisoning, maybe. It might have been a snake, or a spider.
What is also sounds like is gastric torsion. You can look it up if you want. What happens in this is that the dog is very active and jumping around [with a full stomach, usually] and the stomach literally rolls. It can happen suddenly, and can be deadly.
I'm so sorry about your loss.

It's prob too late to answer this question. Vets can perform an autopsy if you request that. It could have been poison, it could have been heart trouble as you suggest. Cardiomyopathy is often a silent killer and when you realize something is wrong, it's too late. Just rejoice in the time you had together and when you're ready, get another puppy, not to replace but for company.

I am so sorry to hear about your Pet. If you notice before people pass away or even have a baby, they get all kinds of energy. He may have been facing some health issues you were not aware of. He had a good life and you have good memories, enjoy those moments, they say time heals all wounds, but for me that time goes on forever....Take Care

What do you think happened? If you think it was fowl play by a neighbour you should have asked the vet at the time. It has been too long to do anything about it. I'm sorry about your loss and if you think it could have been poisoning you shouldn't get any other pets that go outside.
