My dad and I went "car shopping" the other day and among alot of the cars, I liked the Honda Pilot the most, next to the 2007 Toyota Camry, but he won't get me that. Is the Pilot the right choice or should I keep looking?

To be honest, its a gas guzzler. Try a ford escape. Good everything. Worth a look. Ford Fusions are also great.

Considering the fact that you're probably a teenager, your mom will probably love the Pilot more than you. I own a Pilot, and truth be told, it eats too much gas. Look into something more peppy, like a RAV4, or the Nissan Altima. Otherwise, go for a 4 cylinder Camry, you can't go wrong with those. I would recommend that you get a used car from CarMax or a certified used program, you'll save tons of money on like-new cars.

I have only driven one Honda Pilot and I was impressed. It was a repo unit (I drive for an auto auction) and was very well appointed! The handlig was excellent and I didn't notice anything that might point to mechanical problems.

Driving used cars on a daily basis helps me to determine which makes seem to hold their value and which ones wear out quickly! Stay far away from any Saturn!

The link below takes you to some more tings I learned from driving used cars and how it relates to buying new cars.

As a Honda Salesman, you have to understand that comparing a Pilot to a Camry, is like comparing a cell phone to a coffee mug. They are two WAY different vehicles. If you are going to compare a Pilot to anything, compare it to their 4Runner. If your looking at sedans specifically, Take a look at the Accord compared to the Camry. If I could offer you one piece of advice it would be to stick with only one of these two brands. If you have any wuestions about any of the features of the Pilot or Accord, please e-mail me at steven_weis2@yahoo.com and I would be happy to tell you anything about these two vehicles.

ideally my opinion is that you buy something that is easier to drive and has better gas mileage, the camry is ideal for you in that case its a good car with above average reliabilty and its easier to drive compared to the much bigger honda pilot, but if you really like the pilot then go for it.

A first car should be used IMO. New cars carry too much insurance cost, sticker price, and a used car will serve you just as well.
