things were going SO incredibly well i thought... this guy had REALLY liked me.. when we talked on the phone he shared his most deepest thoughts and feelings on Everything.. he even told me about his ex gf and what she did to him and his personal fears and all sorts of things.. he really opened up to me.. including telling me that i was the first girl he'd dated for like nine months since his last gf and he was Extremely nervous around me.. he always called me beautiful.. he said i have the most beautiful voice (which i am self conscious about so that meant a lot) and he always gave me hope for things he would take me to, or that we would have to do together, or how his dad would tease us.. and so i guess with that i took it for granted that we would soon be boyfriend and girlfriend.. because he liked me So much. but then all of a sudden his best friend tells me he has started liking "some ugly chick" for three weeks (while leading me on, still telling me he liked me) i don't get guys.

The other girl was probably more aggressive and progressed a relationship with him before you did. A single man will keep a few options open until one of those options ties him down. Might not even be his first pick but someone to ensure that he isn't alone any more. I'm sure he meant what he said to you things just didn't progress fast enough like they did with someone else.

He found a line/story/compliment that works and he'll keep using it on girls. It's not all bad though, some of the stuff he said about you being beautiful, your voice, etc. were probably true. It's just that he for some reason decided he wasn't into you anymore...us guys do that all the time. We don't like to give an explanation because that's a conversation guaranteed to end badly with crying and hurtful comments. Nobody wants that, it's just easier to let it fade out. Plus, he's probably young, still looking to see what he can land out there in the field. Avoid the cocky guys and stick with a geeky guy, they're more likely to give a damn about you.

He got scared of becoming too close too soon. Try to keep in touch with him just as friends, date some other guys and see if you two find your way back to each other. If it was meant to be, you will---whether it's 1 month, 1 year or 5 years from now. You're young---enjoy your freedom!

Don't listen to the friend!!!! Only you and your guy know whats between the two of you. Maybe he's jealous (the bf) or maybe your guy is just talking crap to his buddy. Don't give up !!

His friend could have been an idiot and done that just so he could get on your good side. Who knows, could have been a prank on his friends part. Stupid prank however.
