Saddam may not have been terrorizing us....But he WAS a terrorist to his own people ( and if you recall...several surounding countries as well ! ) I think Bush had every right to go back and finish the job his father started ( and didnt finish because of negative public opinion ).....We have won in Iraq; we are now attempting Reconstruction......wether or not the Reconstruction suceeds depends entirely on the Iraqi people ( this is why the British troops pulling out is a good thing...it forces the iraqis to step up ). As for the war on Terror.......we have spent too much time respecting everybody elses rights/ feelings ! We dont use the force we should/ could use because we dont want to offend anybody....this is the only mistake Bush has made as far as Im concerned. He should tell all the BLEEDING HEARTS to @%##$^ off....and just nuke whoever we have to to get the point across !

The pullout of British troops WAS a sign of progress. The British areas of control are now mostly peaceful and basically in control. It's just Bagdad and the surrounding areas that are freakin' out.
As far as winning the war on terror, it will never happen until we identify (specifically) who the enemy is and wipe them out. You define the enemy in general terms. Not just "anybody with the capacity and desire to harm us."
The only wars that have ever been truly won were accomplished ONLY by the total destruction of the enemy or through that enemy's unconditional surrender.
Look it up, it's basic history. We've lost every war in which we never declared war, because we were too nice to destroy and demoralize our enemy. Korea, Vietnam, and now Iraq are all good examples.

95% of Iraq is peaceful! The Kurds are enjoying peace and progress. Down south around Basra, it is peaceful. President Bush is right. The Brits are sending half their troops home because there is no fight in Basra.
I thought all these bleeding hearts on here were all for the UN being in charge of everything. Saddam violated 17, count them, 17 UN resolutions. Contrary to one answer, we did not violate any convention by going into Iraq. They shot at coalition planes in the no-fly zone. That right there gave us the right to go in. That no-fly zone was set up to make sure he didn't try to go back into Kuwait.
Are we winning the war on terror? Have we had any terrorist attacks on our soil since 9/11?

Check the article I put in the "sources" section of this answer.
G.W also said (and I quote from the article),
"I think I am proud of the efforts we did. We liberated that country from a tyrant. I think the Iraqi people owe the American people a huge debt of gratitude" - George Bush.
Just think about that for one sec...Bush thinks the Iraqi's owe US a debt of gratitude for screwing up their country even more than it was for no real reason (Iraq certainly didn't have those WMDs, did it?)! Our president thinks the Iraqi's should be THANKING us. THANKING us after there are some 200,000 + dead Iraqi civilians from all of the civil unrest in that country in the last 3 years.
I think Saddam was a piece of crap, but he kept things under control and hundreds of thousands of people weren't just dying left and right due to domestic unrest and instability.
Yes, he was a despotic dictator...but dead is dead. The Iraqis went from being unfree (but alive) to being dead in greater numbers and still largely unfree. Yet, somehow they owe us gratitude? For what? How could the man at the highest levels of our government be so deluded?
Yet he also said, "Mission Accomplished" back in 2003, though, didn't he? Conservatives get pretty silent when you mention the fact that more troops have died after that little air craft carrier stunt than before during the so called "mission."
In short, our president has a tenuous grip on reality, chokes on pretzels, and has a vice president who shot a man in the face. What do you really expect? If you can seriously say that the Iraqi's owe us anything with a straight face...what CAN'T you be sold or try to sell to people?
As far as Blair pulling out being a "sign of progress" that really nicely sidesteps the very real fact that Blair faced a mutiny within his own party and in the parliament of England for screwing up so badly...kind of like how voters tossed the Conservatives out on their *** in Congress. Blair literally doesn't have the political capital to maintain involvement in such a dreadfully unpopular and senseless war.

It means that Iraqi troops in southern Iraq, specifically the city of Basra, have been so well trained by British forces, that they can do more things on their own.It doesn't mean that all British forces will leave all at once.It will be what is known as a phased withdrawal.

Bush lies and has no human decency whatsoever. Believe nothing he says, and look to the day when he and his entire family are run out of this country and dropped off in the middle of Afghanistan with nothing more than their reputations to see them through.

Depends on one's definition of "winning". Personally I am happier that the war is in Iraq and not here.
