If we can come up with about 100 similarly effective solutions that would do the trick. However most of the other solutions are not as "easy" as the light bulb.
Sure it will reduce greenhouse gas by 1 or 2% if used by everyone over conventional lights, but that still means 98-99% of the GH gas is there. Not enough of a difference by itself to do anything, but without that 1-2% the total solution will be difficult. The first 1-2% from the lightbulbs will be the easiest part, and for lights that are commonly used will even save money for the consumer so they are likely to become common even without enviromental concerns.

It won't save it alone but it could help. I don't even know if global warming is cause by carbon gasses or is just one of the many cyclical periods that the earth has gone through of global warming like when the Vikings first settled in Greenland. Mars has had a period of warming too, but no greenhouse gasses are made there. Still, I can understand the reasoning by greenhouse gasses contributing to global warming and think we can go about alternative ways of reducing the production of these gasses.

Not EVEN. My electric bill goes way DOWN in the winter, when it is dark much longer and I have the lights on much more. It goes way UP in summer when I hardly ever turn on a light at all but do run the air conditioner a lot. It is hot in Texas in the summer. And there are SO many other ways we use power, that light bulbs are a drop in the bucket.
