i have a faraday coil with a moving magnet...creating a current. I want to capture the current with a capacitor and then use the stored charge in the capacitor to activate a motor when a swith of some sort is thrown (reed switch?). Can anyone suggest a simple circuit for me? Thanks.

The inductor on the left represents your coil. The diode blocks current from discharging back through the coil to ground. The cap stores your charge for the motor. All you need to do is place your switch wherever you see fit(in series with cap and motor) Good luck.

Use a diode in series with the coil to charge the capacitor. But any reasonably sized capacitor would not drive a motor. That would be one huge capacitor. You might be able to get one of those 1 farad capacitors to store enough charge to run an LED.

you'll need to use a bridge rectifier for the current comming out of the coils. use a bit motor if your cap is small.
