Your beautiful GSD should have been "fixed" about 4 1/2 years ago! But since that hasn't happened, please fix him now.
I really doubt that he has pain because he's hasn't had sex. Maybe frustrated but not hurting!

Your dog is not in pain because of not having sex. Unless your dog has had all of its health tests ( hip xrays, thyroid and eye and heart tests) and is a top quality show or working dog then there is no reason for you to not go ahead and neuter him. He will be much happier and he will never be stressed out about being around girls in season again.

Dogs aren't like humans in the sex drive department. The only critters that have sex for other reasons besides procreation are humans and dolphins.
You should get your dog neutered. Neutering cuts down on unwanted litters of pups. It also keeps your dog home, rules out the chance of him getting testicular cancer, and overall keeps him healthier than if he stayed intact.

If there is no intent to breed him in the future and he is not happy around other dogs the best bet is to get him fixed. It is probly not causing him pain but it can cause health problems in the future.

did you know a male who has never mated and doesnt know how to masturbate can actually drip blood from thier penis if they smell a female in heat?
its true, that being said,
i dont think hes in pain but you should have him neutered because there is no reason to keep him fertile at this age

He should be neutered because he will be healthier in the long run, will be less likely to wander off and it will prevent unwanted puppies.
Dog's sex drive is different from people. You shouldn't try to compare the two.

No, of course he isn't in pain, I had a German Shepherd that was that age too and we had him fixed hes perfectly fine.
Getting him fixed is completly up to you, if you want him to mate or not.
