Practice together a lot. Get someone to work with you on dynamics. Also use a metronome for a bit to make sure you are not russing anything.

Know your scales inside and out. You can't believe how many kids come in and don't know their scales.

Then, relax and have fun!

hey I played trumpet in High School! And our band won a lot of awards...so I would just say PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!! set a schedule and stick to it, and practice every day for like a week before your performance. Don't stress. Pick a song that shows off both your skills; maybe a solo part for the both of you. have someone else from your band listen in and give you feedback. It sounds like you guys are already on your way, so just have fun; if you're having fun playing, it will come out in your performance! Good luck!

Before you do, get together just more, and go over every intonation, and chords possible, make sure you have lots of rhythmic integrity TOGETHER and make sure that you guys communicate and breathe together when you are playing. Make sure that you get into the music and become passionate about what you play.

Practice, and choose music that has a good rhythm to it. Make sure that one person is playing at all times, so there is no silence. Just really practice, and you will do fine.
