well this is one those what if questions that come up regularly. having served with both the US and UK forces there is no doubt in my (or any sane Brits mind) that in a conventional war the US military would defeat the British. However in a nonconventional setting this may become more difficult. firstly the brits have a small but very lethal submarine nuclear strike capability making that not an option. secondly as we have seen in iraq an insurgency is hard to defeat. and there are 60 million brits

They tried 2 times years ago, the Revolutionary war and the war of 1812 and they lost both of them to the USA, we had to pull them out of worlds 1 and 2 or they would be speaking German right now
Now , if they tried it today, we would send 2 bus loads of marines to Canada to take them out and it would take about 10 days to wipe out England, hopefully quick enough , that the American Media and liberals didn't get a chance to start crying about the war and want us to pull out

I'm thinking you meant today, because you've read how Americans whooped on them in 1776 or something, and though i'm not a military strategest the American military probably has alot more bombs and missles and cracked out poor people to push whatever button. Britain would be colonized itself in the end and Blair made Bush's pet monkey. Just imagine, Black and Latino soldiers given the leeway to pull that trigger finger, those Britains would be broken.

I dont think so. Im English and happy to admit that we'd probably get trounced but you would have to consider the situation. I do think that we would probably secure backing from Europe as we are their neighbours and that would really split the world in 2. I dont like over confidence in people who say there is not a chance because recent evidence proves that US military actions overseas have been far from successful. And on that i think most would have to agree.

Not a chance. The US would dominate. The American military has always been the top dog when it comes to force on force, conventional warefare. Its those damn insurgencies we (and the brits, russians, french, and germans) have trouble with.

nope. Not even close. The Brits wont be able to launch the necessary nukes at us to get the job done. History is our proof that we will use one.

Well, it wouldn't just be the UK... It'd be the UK and it's allies... ie the entire British Commonwealth, and probably every anti-American nation on the planet...... so yes, America would soundly be defeated...
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!
