i'm so against animal testing, but for the purpose of your debate you can say its a good thing since by testing on animals you are able to discover any harmful effects that can happn once the product is used. thats about the only thing i can think of. good luck with your argument. you're going to need it.

Well i feel bad for the animals but to play devil's advocate... if it helps prevent a human injury then it's worth it. Animals are similar and sometimes even if a product does not cause initial irritation, it could potentially cause long-term damage... we can't exactly use dermatological control in a long-term study of humans very easily. Animals can let us test extremes... like if the product happened to be swallowed, or if eye contact causes any damage, etc., also it's cheaper than human testing so that's an argument for the manufacturer... they can charge less for the product because testing on animals is way less expensive than humans, and so the consumer in the end benefits.
Hope that helps.

Ok, but first, just to let you know that I am absolutely against what I am about to say with every thread of my being, but I understand the debate thingy, so......
A good reason for animals to be used for testing on new products is because if you are a mother with a newborn infant, and you go to wash your infants hair with "baby shampoo" that gets into the childs eyes, and suddenly, your new baby's eyes begin to turn bloody red, then they bleed, and suddenly your infant passes out and ends up losing both eyes due to some reaction that was never discovered during the testing phase of the product, it would stand to reason that having had this product tested and tested until it is proven safe would've clearly been the right thing to do. As a new mother, one would want to have that happen in the lab to a subject, (I cannot bring myself to write it, .....a ... a.... an animal...OUCH), (now I am going to cry), and not on her poor little newborn baby.
Ok, once again, I must re-iterate, my heart breaks at the very thought of a poor animal being used in any kind of lab testing. But it also breaks horribly at the very thought of somebodys newborn child going through this horrible ordeal! (OUCH!!! again!!!)
But, I think, for debate sake, the above is a pretty damn good argument!
Hope this helps!!! (not just because it was awfully painful to write, but because I love debate!)
Bye!

no because their is no need for it ...their is alternative sources that are more affective and less expensive. Also testing an animal has no bearing wether it will affect a human since we are totally different. So even if an animal has no reaction or vise versa it doesnt mean a human wont either. It's disgusting.

im so totally against it. but for the sake of argument you could say that it needs to be done for medical testing and people's quality would be not as good without the medications they need. and that if the only way to find a cure for AIDs/HIV was through animal testing, you'd rather the animals then the count deaths of people suffering from the disease.

Hell yeah. Test it up on those animals.
God put everything on this Earth for our use.
And if you're one of those idiots thats against animal-testing, then would you rather take thier place?
When our concern for animals passes our concern for our own well-being, we have truly gone nuts.
Lets try to remember the important thing here, ok?
Besides, Animal Testing does not equal Animal Cruelty.
Animal Cruelty - which I am against, is something totally different.
Don't confuse the two.

The only good thing I can think of is that any harmful effects on humans will be weeded out already. But animal testing is sick and wrong!
