Bad.
Most all plant need open pores to take in air and moisture from the surrounding air. This includes inside plants. If the leaves are dry this may a result of excess dry of heat in the room. Gas heat is dry heat. Do not over water the soil to compensate for the dryness. This will cause root rot. Try spraying the leaves with a light mist of water. They will respond. Avoid the lotion.

Leaves may look better (shinier), but if the lotion clogs the stomata, the plant has no way of getting CO2 from the atmosphere for photosynthesis! Or releasing oxygen or water vapor. Some types of plants can have stomata on both surfaces.
