I understand that then, you will be new. If you want to be popular or something near that, I would suggest joining more clubs and extracurricular activities to get yourself accustomed to the new class/school norm.
Be confident and try not to change yourself just so people will like you. I guess it'd be wise to show some humor when talking to people, and being polite. Do not go into "this" immediately, though: first adjust yourself and see how you like everything and everyone.

People who are popular didnt become popular and cool by asking others how to "be popular". These people practice humility and dont have to try too hard because they are comfortable with who they are. Most popular people pay attention to the class rather than worrying and losing sleep over their image to the other ding-bats in class who dont want to learn but to just "be popular". Since you've apparently no experience with "being popular", how in the world are going to handle such a big load?
Popular people are comfortable with settling for who they are already. You need to be studious and scholarly and build up your pride and confidence. Best wishes

I agree with smartie. You need to be nice and friendly with everyone. Don't leave someone out even though they may not be popular. Include everyone when it comes to talking, hanging out, etc.

be genuinely nice to people. And love your self and be confident. Join a lot of social/community/academic organizations and talk to people in these groups.
