Or wherever you keep their food? Mine will follow me in there and meow frantically. They are healthy and definitely well fed.

You bet, the little buggers. I mean beggars. I'm like the Pied Piper every time I stand up.

Sure they expect it, doesn't mean they are going to get what they want. They can put on all the cute little faces and sit there staring at the dishwasher (that's where they think the food comes from, don't ask me they are cats!!!!), make all the noise they want, try to trip me or my husband, but they get fed on a schedule, that's it. They always have some dry food and water around, but as far as their wet food, too bad, they have to wait. It's just the way cats are, they will cry and cry for food and then half the time once they get it will walk away and not bother to eat it. It's a cat power play. And who says cats are stupid? They have us twisted around their little paws.

Just like dogs dry food is better for them and unless there is an over eating problem it can stay down all the time. No need to be pestered. Save the soft food and such for treats.

Yes! I don't feed her,but that is what she expects. I have, through the yrs.,fed a screaming cat only to watch it look at the food and walk away. I think they just want to know they can make you feed them and know the food it there.

They just like to be greedy. My snuggles is hooked on the soft food and if I just so happen to open the cabinet door(which squeaks loudly) he'll come runnin'! Or when I come home from the store he'll be whining like crazy cause he thinks I bought him some treats.
So, it's nothing to worry about. Just like dogs, cats can be very greedy when it comes to eating.

Mine are always hopeful that this is the main reason for me going in to the kitchen at any time.

My cats, and ones I have had in the past, want me to watch them eat. They will pester me till I go to the dish, stand there, and watch them. This happens even if there is food in the dish and I am not in the room. If I start to walk away, they stop eating.
Cat's are supposed to drive us CRAZY!! >^..^<
