Firstly: don't diet.

Instead- there are a lot of tips and tricks to help you control your eating habits so that you don't go hungry. Here are a few:

1. Don't skip meals.
2. Snack regularly
3. Get enough protein and fat (20-30%)
4. Eat more slowly.
5. Don't think of what to remove from your meals... think of what to add. More vegetables, fruit, fiber, water. You won't have room for anything else.
6. Put down your fork between each bite... until you've swallowed what's in your mouth.

Starving yourself ultimately results in your body reducing its metabolism- and then making it that much more difficult to lose weight.

Get into some sport- where you'll have fun- and get physical activity.

Cutting out processed food and sugar would make a dramatic difference in a very short period of time. Eating more veggies & fruits is always a good idea too. I would prepare ahead of time some healthy snacks that you can just grab and run. I think most times we just want something quick and the quick things are generally not good, healthy choices. You could always prepare ahead fruit and nut mixtures in little snack baggies, buy some yummy granola to throw in with yogurt, precut some carrot & celery sticks - you can keep them in water so they stay crisp and eat them with ranch dressing, pepperoni slices and string cheese - there are all sorts of easy to prepare snacks. Just get a bit creative - google "healthy food choices" and you will get a ton of great information! Pair all of the above w/ excercise and you are set!

Set a realistic goal of losing a couple of pounds a month. Weight lost slowly is more likely to be kept off.

eat three meals a day. make sure you eat enough protein. if you want to lose weight, try eating more vegetables and fruit. when you eat dinner, try to divide your plate this way: half the plate should be vegetables, one quarter should be some kind of protein, and the other quarter some kind of carbohydrate. avoid eating too much sodium and sugar. don't drink soda, and avoid junk food. play a sport and try to exercise daily.

your only 13...there is a chance that you could still grow..there is no need for you to be dieting when you are 13 years old...worry about this when you are older..you are at a healthy weight for your height....to maintain this weight just stay active and eat healthy foods..
