The emotional states that I most encounter when in the presence of God are love, amazement and humbleness. Being in the presence of God is a downright powerful and moving thing. And really God can pour whatever into an open heart that he wants to. I most commonly experience love. God can put a person on their knees just by loving them, also amazement because i witness the things that God does and what he has done for me and it is completely amazing. And oh that humbleness, when I am there in the presence of God and he is just speaking to my heart and loving me. And I am broken by the love he has for me and the fact that Jesus died for me. Jesus died for us sinners. A holy being, a man who is God and lived in the flesh without sin, gave his life in trade for ours. Even though we are filthy and have wicked hearts, he gave his life for us out of love.

Is it faith you are looking for. or is it peace, it has to be peace.

Well, I do not think that love is an emotional state at all. I think that it is something that is more than just how you may feel. It is also an action. If you feel a certain way, but you cannot back it up with actions, then your feelings mean nothing.

I think one of the most powerful emotions that exists in everyone is anger. People are angered by the state of the world, by what other religions may believe, by how others misrepresent the faith in one's opinion. Anger causes one to make an action that is purely out of passion. It causes people to lose sight of normalcy and actually blinds someone from seeing better judgment. Anger can eat someone alive when they are completely consumed by it. Indeed, it is one of the most powerful things on earth.

In Christianity love is more powerful because God is love and the Bible says, "perfect love casts out fear."

Also, in Christianity love is more than an emotion it is an action. You love with your heart, your soul and your mind. By the way that is how we are to love God (the first and greatest commandment and the second is like it; "you shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Love is not merely an irrational impulse. It is a calm reasoned decision you make to love someone and seek that person's highest good.

Hope you find this helpful.

The most powerful emotional state would be helplessness? As an example there's that old saying, "There are no Atheists in foxholes." Being told you have a terminal illness is an emotional push toward religion.

" There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love." 1 John 4:18 Love is more than an emotional state. God is love.

I think that Mostly all religeon is founded in fear. YOu fear that you will anger your god/diety and will not enter your "Heaven". Love comes from fear of not being loved. Unfortunately in my eyes fear is the root. :(
