White Spots are small, semi-circular spots that result from injury to the base (matrix) of the nail where nail cells are produced. They are not a cause for concern and will eventually grow out. White spots are very common and usually recur.

Usually the white spots are a "bruise" on your nail. Just as if you would bump your leg and get a bruise, if you bump your fingernail it will leave little white spots. It's nothing to worry about, they grow out as your nails grow.

It does not mean anything terrible. It just means that you need more zinc in your diet. Start taking a multi vitamin and it should fix you right up. Don't expect the spots to go away immediately.

contrary to belief, it is not caused by lack of vitamins or nutrients. it's purely because you have injured it and may not have even known it. it doesn't hurt and it goes away easily.
