its nice to know that people actually are trying to understand Islam and i will try my best, God willing to answer your questions in full :)
What do Muslims practice: We practice the belief of monothiesim. That is we believe in God and only one God. When a person professes their faith we say "There is none worthy to be worshiped but God and Muhammad is His messanger"
How many times we pray: We are required to pray 5 times a day. Though some do more non required prayers. For more information on what we say when we pray and what is done in each movement, this is a step by step guide to our prayers http://muslim-canada.org/salaat.html
Is it like Christianity?: The basics are the same as in we believe in God. However we only worship God when Christians worship God and Jesus. We do acknowlege Jesus but not as the son of God because we do not believe that God has a son or a daughter. We do see Jesus as a Prophet just as we see Muhammad.
Besides a religion, what is it really? It is a way of life. Islam has a answer for everything.
The clothing is not so much optional but there are basic requirements. The Islamic dress code for men and women is called Hijab. We are to dress modest at all times and the Quran tells us how. Women are supposed to cover our hair and our bodies as not to draw attention to the opposite sex because that is something that is to be loved and viewed by our husbands. In Afganastan they do wear the more traditional islamic styles. I too will wear some of the outfits you see overseas but i do also wear pants and shirts and jeans and things like that on a day to day basis. As long as it is covering my body, it does not matter.
I hope i answered your questions to your satisfaction. and if you feel you may need clarification or have any other questions, please let me know... i can be emailed (i am clickabled)

We believe in the statement La Illaha Il Allah which means nothing has the right to be worshiped but Allah. Allah means Almighty God in Arabic. Islam means submission and the one who submits to doing the will of Almighty is called a muslim. Islam is the the way of life of all the propthets Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the Prophet Mohammed may Allah bring peace and blessing upon them all. To be a muslim you have to understand this word in Arabic which is called Tawheed. Tawheed means to make something one, however you will have to negate every false thing that they worship besides Almighty God whether it is a saint ,angel, prophet, man, woman, cockroach. None of these things have the right to be worshiped, the one the that has the right to be worshiped is the one and only God there is and He should be worshiped alone without any partners. He is everliving and never dies. He does not eat drink or sleep. He never gave birth to anyone and no one gave birth to Him. He was not created but mankind were created and no one is like Him.

Thanks for a nice decent question among all the hate filled sermons.
Muslims are required to pray five times a day. Our prayers are different than Christians. We have specific times for our prayers. i.e. one is before sunrise, one is in afternoon when sun is at its highest point. Then one in late afternoon, one after sunset, and the last required one at night time.
As long as we wear modest clothes we are in the boundaries of Islam. There is no one right dress because that is usually cultural.

Islam is the True religion.
I practice what is relevant in Islam and in the society.
I pray 5 times a day.
No..it is so much differ from present christianity.
The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a "Muslim", The word also implies "peace" which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah. Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) I in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of Allah re-expressed in its final form.
I wore normal cloth but without the hijab. I wear long pants and blouse with long sleeve. This is to suit the environment I live in. I blend in with the surrounding but still hold the value of Islam.
Hope my answers satisfy you.

good questions
we are required to pray five times a day.
1st before sun raise (6am)
2nd at noon (around 1pm)
3rd at after noon (around 4pm)
4th at evening (around 6pm)
5th at night ( 7pm +)
these prayers are different than what christians do, what christians do is called "Doaa" which we also do, such as raising our hands and talk to God or seeking forgiviness.
regarding clothes, the clothes you see in Afganistan or pakistan or any muslim country is just a culture clothes. women had to cover all her body except her face and hand, and men had to cover what's between their belly to their knees.
