I spayed my 5 yr old cat a week ago and she was never a nice kitty to my husband or anyone. She only loves me. Two days after the surgery, she has been very nice and letting him pet her, she purrs...Even though the vet told me that she would never change. She was being very naughty to the vets.
I want to know if spaying itself is causing her not to be as aggressive. Or might it be that we just moved to a new place.
I mean, cats do not change one day to another.

By the way, I know I should've spayed her a long time ago, so please, I heard enough lectures on it already.

Sounds like she had a
really bad time at the vets.
She's just glad to be home.
Don't count your chickens
before they hatch. She may
go back to her old ways when
the effects of the meds wear
off completely. Our cat "Nasty,"
was so sweet for three days
when she first got home.
Then she went back to clawing
the furniture and hissing at
everything that moved. Glad to
have her home at any cost.

Kitties will always be a one person cat. Your kitty has
just become older and now has been fixed. Just like
people as cats mature they become calmer and more
relaxed. Sounds like she has finally accepted your husband. Enjoy the change and don't worry about it.
She will probably continue her treatment of the vet only
because of all of the smells that assail her in the vet's
office. The vets are use to it.

She could be stressed and reaching out. One of my cats always runs from my husband, but when the cat got outside one day and was retrieved by my husband, the kitty clung to him. Maybe your kitty has decided that your husband is nice compared to the shot giving people at the vet's.

I think it's mainly because you moved.Of course it may have something to do with her getting spayed,I've seen my cats go trough the same stuff, but I've read that the cat gets very attached to the place that they live, and that moving may cause change of behavior.Well, anyway,it's better to purr than to hiss at your husband, isn't it?

Spaying or neutering a cat makes her or him a little more calm and layed back since the sex hormones that contribute to aggressive and restless behavior are gone. Your kitty will always prefer you to others, but she will not be as aggressive towards them as before.

It's not unusual for cats (and dogs for that matter) to become less aggressive after being spayed/neutered. May have something to do with hormones.

Well I got my cat spayed when she was a few years old too and now she's sweet to everyone so i believe it does change their attitude.

She may feel you brought her pain. So now she is favoring the one who was not there, that she feels is not responsible. She feels betrayed and confused. A lot of love and kindness along with a sardine or two should win her affection back and renew her trust.

Chances are it's because you just moved. Your husband is now something familiar in the confusion of moving to a new place.
