If a friend of yours asked you to go have a coffee would you automatically assume she wanted more than a friendship and was asking you on a date?
If you assume it is a date would you still say yes (assuming you didn't have anything else to do) or would you make an excuse so she didn't get her hopes up about it being a date?

no just that they want to get to know you better depends if she said "when you're not busy" verses "you want to get coffee on sat 2ish with me?" the second one would be a date

You say she is a friend. Guess what? Friends do things together, like have coffee, go to movies, hang out. I wouldn't assume anything. There wouldn't be anything wrong with a little communication on your part. Talk to her. If you are 100% sure you don't want to be anything more than friends, but you think she may want more, be gentle while you are discussing your "friendship".
