Yes. 20 seconds is not long enough to kill. Interestingly, the heart can beat without the nerve impulses from the brain. There is a small section of your heart (called Purkinje fibers) that can actually produce a small electrical impulse large enought to cause the heart to beat. That is why people that have broken their necks and severed their spinal cord can still have a heart beat without assistance from the brain.

I heard the human body can live 5 minutes without their heart beting. but I wonder how long it can survive if it is taken out. The brain though, you can't live 5 seconds without it buddy.

I would say no I saw a dude die off a massive heart attack and he was squatting at the time and was dead before he fell to the ground.
