For the past month, I have had pain in the outer part of my foot near my little toe. At first the pain was mostly from the outside of the foot but now it is all centralized on the sole of my foot, very close to the outer side, about an inch under my little toe, right on the bone that is there. There does seem to be a caluse there but looking at it, you wouldn't think there is anything wrong. It is really getting old. I have been using corn pads on it and that seems to help but I want it to just go away. Anyway Podiatrists or people that have had this happen to them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It could be Gout, a rheumatic disease...
or at least it's worth looking into.
Although it is more common in men than in women and more common in adults than in children.
Women rarely develop the disorder before menopause.

Does the pain seem to be more in the "joint" or is it actually on the skin itself?

Gout usually attacks the big toe (approximately 75% of first attacks), however it can also affect other joints such as the ankle, heel, instep, knee, wrist, elbow, fingers, and spine.

This is easier to explain in person I will do my best...

How are the shoes you are wearing? Are you wearing the cute little sandles and shoes with no support?

YEP.. Most of us do LOL...

Get yourself some good sneakers with good support you don't have to wear them everyday but when you are at home or casual shopping slide on your comfy kicks...

Secondly,

STRETCH... and slowly roll your foot... Stand up on tippy toes and back down.... Some of these stetches are hard to explain sorry. Also with your heal to the ground lift up your toes.. Hold for 5 seconds release and do it again...

The best thing every night before bed... or at least every other....sit on something high with your foot off the floor... Take your foot and with the big toe draw out imaginary ABC's starting with A and finish with Z.. This will hurt the first few times so get as far as you can keep planning on trying to end with z... this will help stregthen your foot.

Physical Therapy is going to be your cure. Start off with this for a few months see how it feels and then you may want to move on with Orthopedics if there is no relief.

I agree with "confuzzled" i also suffer from this and the pain is awful on standing up after a while or even sitting down after standing for ages. I have it really bad at the moment. I went to the docs just before christmas and she gave me steroid injections in the feet which eased it for a bit, they dont like to do it more than 8 times a year though apparently. I dont know about you but walking on my toes or limping for too long really huirts the backs of your legs and thighs? Sorbathane insoles help too but they are quite expensive (my stepson bought me a pair) and i move them between my shoes. Good luck with it, i have every sympathy with you. Life is pretty miserable with sore feet.
