I know this is kinda a stupid question

I had a C-Section. I felt pain when the gave me the Spinal Tap (numbed me from breasts area down). For the actual delivery, I didn't feel a thing. I even had an extra surgery to remove a 6" x 8" cyst that grew inside my ovary. I didn't feel that being removed either. If you are talking about a vaginal birth, I can't help you there. I've only given birth once, and it was the C-Section with extra surgery as mentioned above. The recovery wasn't any fun, but you only asked about giving birth.

No. There will ALWAYS be some sort of pain. Even before the epidural, there will be pain.

to ease your fears on labor, its like having stronger period cramps. If you want to get an epidural, wait about as long as you can to get it, so that when the pushing and that baby comes out, you don't feel it.

But even after an epidural, you have the utures cramping, a sore vag, (and a sore butt to!) sore breasts (unless you breastfeed, but there is still a very breif episod of engrorgement)

Also, if you think a c-section isn't going to "painful" you're in for it. The c-section is the most painful route to go. It doesn't hurt as much during the labor process, but the recovery is the worse. There is nothing I can use to explain the pain you feel when you first get up, but it's not worth it as a "pain reliver"

It's a lot of work to give birth so there usually is some pain involved. From my two births, one very medical and one natural, I'd say take a Bradley childbirth class and try for the natural path. Believe it or not the non-medicated birth hurt a lot less than the medicated one. Or take the Bradley class and use it to help determine the most effective timing to recieve medication. But take the class and do some research into natural childbirth just in case you can't get pain meds during delivery.

I have 3 children, 1 was a vaginal birth and the other 2 where c-sections. You will feel pain either way. My suggestion to you, stay fit, and drink plenty of fluids during your pregnancy. In my experience, this helps, alot, with the pain at the actual delivery. The pain with a vaginal birth is really not bad at all, the epadural is great, but for me it actually hendered my 2nd birth, that is why I had the c-section. The pain is soo quick, you really don't remember it after that little bundle of joy is in your arms. Also, try to avoid a c-section if you can, the recovery time stinks, but again, if you stay fit and walk as soon as you can after surgery, the recovery period is pretty quick!

Good Luck!

there are lots of things you can be given now that helps ease the pain or take it away completely.

its better for you and the bub if you can do it with the least amount of pain relief but then again, they dont give medals out for being heroes either.

if your really worried talk to your dr or midwife to help releive the tension. i can tell you that if it was that painful many of us wouldnt go through it two, three or four times. its the kind if pain that once the baby is born its gone. its a strange sensation.

good luck.

EPIDURAL

up until then your level of pain depends on your tolerance for it...my mom described her contractions as "annoying" but not painful, mine were so painful i thought an alien was going to rip through my abdomen and i was in labor for 24 hours!
