I've been there and done that. This is what I did.
I didn't use the chemical shampoos to get rid of the lice.
Instead I used olive oil and gloppy soap in a dish. I sat
down with her on the kitchen floor. I wrapped a towel around her shoulders and armed with only a nit comb I
went through her hair strand by strand. It took a few hours but I got every nit. The soap was to dump the nits in
once they were removed from her hair. I washed her pillows, pillow cases, bedding, towels, sprayed her mattress daily. I crammed all of her stuffed animals after
spraying the heck out of them inside a dark trash bag and left them in the bags for 3 months. 7 days later I did
the hair thing again and then again 7 days after that. It
is tedious and a real pain but it worked. She hasn't had any nits since. Good luck.

That sucks - sorry about that.
Here is what I know. First, you will probably have to use that shampoo stuff. Second, you need to comb the eggs out every day for like two weeks. Every single day. My friends daughter had them and she had to comb the hair in tiny increments to get all the eggs out. From what she said, there is no way a person could do this combing on their own, someone else has to do it because you have to end up combing every single hair and comb those eggs off.
Then once your lice free, start using a shampoo with tea tree oil. We had a huge outbreak in our school and I used tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner on my kids head every single night. I also keep my daughters hair in a bun for a month so that she wouldn't get it from rubbing shoulders with anyone. Some of the other moms at school tried coating their kids hair in hairspray or gel. I didn't do that, I just used the tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner and then I bought actual tea tree oil and put it on a cotton ball and rubbed it along her hair line in the back and around her ears.
The stuff smells sooooooo clean - like the cleanest stuff ever - its almost over powering.
Good luck.

You need to look at her hair shafts very carefully under a very, vry bright light. Get the light right up close. Sit her on the floor, and you sit in a chair. Look at the hair real close to her scalp first, then look behind her ears in those areas that are hard to see. The nits should look shiny, and the lice themselves may look dark. I used rid, their are a lot out their that make it easier to slide the comb through the hair. Go through each section very carefully. You just have to be patient and thorough. I had to deal with four blonds, and believe me it was not easy. I had to do it a few times as well, stay consistent and you'll get it!! Oh and yes you really do need to use the comb. Hope this helps and good luck!!

This might sound odd, but it really works. Wash her hair in Denorex medicated shampoo, leave it in for no longer than 5 minutes, rinse really good. Add a conditioner and rinse, then section her hair and comb through it with a metal knit comb. Repeat that for 3 days and on the 4th day use Cetaphil non-comedogenic(it's a face cleanser). Coat her hair from the root down, getting every strand and leave it on for 5 hours then rinse really well, it will also leaver her hair soft and shiny. In order to rid her head from the lice, you must remove all the knits. Treat your house, pillows, sheets ect. once every other week and through in 1 cup of Listerine original in your wash, it will not hurt your clothes.

She's being reinfected from somewhere. Talk to her teacher and make sure there aren't other kids with it. Sometimes they spread from child to child if one parent doesn't do everything you have done properly they will just continue the cycle.
Remind her not to share her hairbrush or comb at school and make sure you clean those also. She also shouldn't share hats, headbands, ponytail holders, or anything else that goes in the hair. Also, her coat may need to be cleaned. They can be in the collar. Make sure everyone in the family is non-infected and make sure to get all the nits out of the hair.
