God does not test one's faith through prayer. Prayer is an answer for when someone's faith is being tested.

Not really, mainly because I don't ask for stuff that I don't really need .... I feel like I'm far enough along in my Christian walk that I don't have to ask God for so much anymore, I think that He expects me to do a lot of things on my own now.

Well it depends on what I'm praying for. For some things I just know he will answer and other times I'm not sure if he wants me to have what I'm asking for.
