Satan is a tool of G-d an not an evil rebellious force.
He is the force that pulls us to our base inclinations instead of working to get closer to G-d.
One way of putting it is Satan is the little voice in your head telling you to eat that slice of cake even though you know its bad for you.

The word for Satan in the Old Testament Hebrew was ha-satan which meant "The adversary." In the Old Testament, Andrew Collins tells us that "this term is used exclusively to describe either the enemies of God or the enemies of the Israelite race in general. Never is the Devil referred to as the evil one. Not until the advent of the New Testament...does the term ha-satan take on the all important role.
The term Satan simply means adversary or evil intent. It was NOT a literal person. It started out as a term to describe anyone who was an enemy or in an adversarial relationship, and was finely honed down into a literal being in the New Testament.

There is no Satan in Judaism. Every person has a Yetzer harah (the bad inclination) and a Yetzer hatov (the impulse to do good). it is the war of these two within each person that creates both good and evil in the world.
The Christian concept of Satan comes from Talmudic lore of a creature named Samael, usually considered to be the Angel of Death, but also associated with roles of accuser, seducer and/or destroyer.

In Jewish lore, the Devil is in mankind, not a separate entity that has autonomy. The Devil is the temptation of the flesh inside men's hearts.
Satan has no stature in Judaism.
Quit fishing for Satan among the Jews. The Devil will not serve to push your agenda here.

His given stature is 5' 3" tall, which, ironically, is the same as Curly Howard. This makes him the butt of many 'short' jokes in the Talmud. It is also the origin of the phrase, "Li'l Devil"
