Absolutely Not...I totally don't believe your brother should pay your parents rent for living in their basement. I think he should get his pathetic 34 yr. old azz out of your parents' house, get his own place, and pay his own damn rent and utilities

I see your point. I think your brother doesn't want to take on his financial responsibility. He should help out. Instead of telling him to pay rent why don't you try telling him that girls won't like it if he still lives with his parents at his age.

I guess he should help to pay the other utilities & groceries bills, if not rent. Why is he so stingy, having earning a decent figure.

I would think he should pay rent...but I would also think that it's between him and his parents and really nobody else's business.
Perhaps he's doing other things to help (repairs etc..) perhaps he has some fiancial problems he dosen' want everyone else to know about. I really think it's his and his parents business.

No, he shouldn't live rent free. However, your parents are allowing it and that is their responsibility. Do yourself a huge favor and don't intervene, even though I know it must seem very frustrating to you, especially if you are a responsible person.

He should pay rent. At the very least he should have chores to do to pay for his rent.
