I never heard of these before I got on Y/A so I guess it's an American invention.
What exactly is it, how does it work and where could I get one (or maybe more) ?

I have one that's called a Litter-Maid. It jammed all of the time. The motors in these just aren't strong enough. They're expensive and not worth the money. I turned it off and just use it as a plain old litter box now.

I am not ceretain if the automatic litter tray is an American invention (heck we'll take the credit - we do for everything else anyway - LOL)

I bought on for my daughter for Christmas (yes, she asked for it) and it is wonderful!! The cat goes in the litter like it always does and then there is an electronic sensor that lets the machine know when the cat has left the box. A "rake" passes thru the litter and deposits it in an enclosed trap (which has a liner in it) and the the kittie's dirty litter is out of site and nose LOL.

Just google it. You should be able to buy it online. I purchased that one at a WalMart here in the states. Good Luck !!

Target, maybe Walmart, the cat uses the box and some time afterwords a sensor activates a rake to drag out the mess and drop it into a disposable container.

I wouldn't reccomend it. It doesn't seem worth all that money, because it will probably get jammed. Just remember at least every other day to scoop the litter pan. Unless this is a gift or something.

You can get them at WalMart and places like that...Petco and other pet stores. They are either battery operated or plug in and they have a pan below the pan where the dirty stuff gets raked. The more expensive ones have censors on them telling it when to clean it and the others you push a button.

they don't work really well, If you have one cat they might be ok but for multiple cats they are a disaster. they are calld litter maids.
