Surely God seeks the harshest of penalties in the after-life for those who really deserve it.

I fear people like you, because people like you look on and do nothing and allow evil to flourish.

Born: While I don't believe in hell. Yes, I do think that the concept of hell is MADE for evil torture killers without a conscience and yeah, if anyone, it is they who deserve to be burned forever.
They get it too good here on earth babe, if it were up to me, I'd sting em up and have the dark ages brought on them. You know how many people were tortured and burned to death for dumb things in the past? Why not give hell to those who truly deserve it?

weemaryanne: liberal postergirl. You're right, everyone is a victim somehow, someway, people shouldn't be punished for their crimes but analyzed and medicated and put back into the general populous. Yeah, there's no such thing as evil sociopaths who are bent on child murder and can never be rehabilitated, let's set them all free.

Lisa G: please tell me right now you are not equating children with plants.
Pleeease. While I am for animal rights, they too have laws. It is right that we prosecute child murderers as we do one who murders any innocent person. I do hope for punishment for those who deserve it, I fear those who excuse them and allow them to go on.

Dusty Scribe: you make God out to be the worst of the worst, And sorry but it's YOUR mentally ill beliefs that a sin is a sin, that, or the bronze age men you revere. An all wise all just all knowing creator of the universe is made out by you and your clan into something so awful, it's hard to see how anyone can stomach your religion.

scripture reader: you're another one, unbelievable. You people really do believe the God of the Old Testament never changes. The vile, childish, horrifying God of the old testament is the same god who will punish 'fornicators' with child killers and Hitler. Disgusting.

There is no God. No Heaven. No Hell.
Which is why we invented prisons and the death penalty.
(Of course, while I'm inclined to wish there was a hell for people who abuse, torture, hurt, and kill children, how many readers out there are aware of the number of times God commanded the Isrealites to go into a city and kill all the children, including babies, unless the little girls were virgins, and then sometimes God would let them be taken as sex slaves).

What a lot of people don't realize is that many of these offenders are actually living in hell here on earth. I'm not justifying any crimes whatsoever, but a high percentage of the offenders that you speak of do not know how to function in society. Then they are thrown into a prison system (and rightfully so) where they are abused and tortured, a lot of times killed. Statistics show that inmates who are incarcerated for crimes against children make up the highest number of prison murder rates. Most have to be put into isolation to protect them from the other inmates. I for one say throw them to the dogs, but we have a Criminal Justice System and the Bill of RIghts. Unfortunate, but the law none the less.

Yes. I do. I say this as an atheist/agnostic, mind you, but I do. Since I am not big on eternal torture I would prefer that we make life hell on earth for people who in any way hurt children. Child abuse is a very predominant thing in our culture; most people start by thinking that by hitting their kids they're not "really" hitting them because it's discipline. (Pbfft). If people called an ace an ace then perhaps a sense of morality would increase. Then, of course, there are your beaters and sexual abusers. These people should not be let out of solitary confinement for the rest of their lives. It has been proven that rehabilitation does NOT work. I'm willing to give some leeway to parents who are raised not "knowing any better" but I think there are far less of them than inherently violent, sick people.

No, I was an abused child. I appreciate your concern if it is true, but the sad thing is abuse is a neverending cycle. The majority of those who abuse children were abused themselves. The best thing we can do is do whatever we can to stamp out child abuse here and now. Do you know some first-time child-molesters get only a fine and probation, or a very short sentence, but when a person robs a bank, a crime of desperation, not sickness, their life is pretty much over. This isn't justice...

You know, my wife, who is atheist, says that. She says that some people make her wish there was a hell, especially the people involved in 9/11 or people who, as you said, hurt children. But I don't believe it. I think that being remembered as a horrible person is a punishment, too. And I think that some people get away, or seem to get away, or have to wait for their reckoning to come, just like we do on Earth. I am Pagan; I believe that all humans, and our world, is a mix of good and evil. That's what I see. I can't believe there's an all-good or all-bad afterworld. And I really can't believe that someone who simply, say, believed the wrong book or minister goes to hell.

cloe e,
Yes, I hope these terrible people are treated in eternal afterlife, as they treated the innocent children while alive.
I just have no idea, what Heaven or Hell is as I am human, and all that means.
I think Jesus, and GOD do not want any harm to come to children, and I am content. Jesus said let the children come to him, while alive, so I'd imagine all children are cared for by Jesus in heaven.
This subject always produces such raw passions, and I hope you are at Peace.

First of all, I really hate it when anything bad happens to kids. I can't have children of my own, and I would love to, so it breaks my heart when people who are blessed with kids treat them so badly and allow horrible things to happen to them. I do have two step-kids who I love dearly, and I would die before I let someone hurt them. I don't believe in the idea of Hell, but sometimes seeing things like that on the news makes me wish that it was real. I guess its a good thing that I'm not God, because I'm not capable of the unconditional love that he is. I'd condemn them to torture, no questions asked.

Revelations 21:8 "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
Who among you Yahoo readers are unbelievers? Sexually immoral (outside the bounds of marriage)? Do you tell lies? Many will be thrown into the lake of fire; the most wicked of people will have a lot of company from those who never thought they were all that bad.

We Christians know that there is a hell. For those who abuse, torture, hurt , and kill children or any other human being, there is a hell waiting for them. We can only pray that they receive forgiveness. They will be forgiven if they ask and believe in God. It is hard for me to forgive someone that harms others intentionally. I am not perfect as is Christ. I have a hard time forgiving them there fore I have to pray hard for them and my self for not wanting to forgive them.

These are the words of Jesus. He has something to say to people who mess with children.
Mat 28:6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
