If you love the others dont let them out loose.....that poor woman will be scarred for life and if the dog wasnt loose in the first place she wouldnt have this on her memory for ever either. Do a good thing in the dogs memory and see that no other dogs are loose to be hit....he will be watching from above.

I'm very sorry for the tragic ending of your dog's life. The below sites can help you during this terrible time. I visit critters.com often to read the wonderful memorials people have written about their departed pets. They make me cry, laugh and relate to what they are saying. I was consumed with grief with the passing of my dog. He has been gone almost one year and I still cry sometimes because I still miss him so much. I didn't think any of my friends or families could relate to how I felt. Turns out they couldn't but the people at Critters.com could.

I am so sorry for the loss of your kid, and I think that that is the way to look at it. It is truly to me, like losing a child. What has worked for me, is to grieve, talk to people who know you well, and understand your devotion to your dog. What else has helped me is to get another dog, when I am ready. Not to compare the two dogs, but to share your love with another deserving animal. You get back what you put into it. I have had rescue rottys for several years now, and I have lost some. Although heartbreaking, saving another dog would probably help to soothe your soul. Good luck.

I know it sounds weird right now, but I suggest that you get another dog. I don't mean right now or even this week, but soon. This new dog is not to take the place of the dog you lost, but to make a new canine bond in memory of the last one. A dog's love is a special one, and even though you may lose one every now and then, never give up on that love. The death of one dog creates an opportunity to love another.

When my chihuahua got hit I was devistated. We thought he broke his back, but he fortunetly lived. Then a couple months after that my Rottweiler ot shot in the spine and had to be put down. I cried forever and I still want to cry when I think about him. I don't think you'll ever get over him. Just don't try to forget him thats the worse thing to do. Just try to remember the good times you had with him. I'm really sorry. I hope you feel better!

I am soo sorry that happened to you. Only time will ease the pain. Crying and greiving is natural, over time the pain does lessen, but you will always remember your dog. It might be helpful for you (when you are ready) to put together a little photo album or tribute for you to look at when you want to think about your dog
Take care

It's always hard losing a pet, they are like a family member. I'm sorry to hear about you and your family's loss.
The best thing you can do is remember the fun times you had with them.
Maybe gather up pictures you have of them and make a collage or a memory book with the pictures and have each person in your family write a favorite memory to put in the book.
We lost our lab last June and had a stepping stone made with his name that we keep by our front door.
Good luck, and my sympathy.

I am very sorry you lost your dog. Most dogs that roam 24/7 though do have this happen to them. I hope if you get another dog that you will make a different decision about letting it roam so that it can be with you until it is very old.

i.m sorry but there is not way, just to remember the good times you had with your dog, sorry and know what is like to lose a dog. Just remember that your dog is in a happy place, and i recommend you that you should wait like 6 months and maybe buy a puppy.

im so sorry.. thats such a hard thing to go through.. all id say is if you decide in the future that you want to get another dog, id say get an older one from the humane society.. that's what i did after something similar happened to my dog.. it helped me because i knew that i was really helping another dog that may not have gotten a chance otherwise
so sorry
