From what I've heard, an excellent, and free alternative is an open source program called "Paint.net", and is available at the below link.

Yes.. I have.. I have not seen any freeware that is a good as photoshop or illustrator.. Remember.. You get what you pay for..

yeah but your better off with the photoshop because of the tech support avaiable....unless your a programmer and can handle it on your own.

sorry, I know you may not want to hear this.....but nothing beats adobe :) it has all the good filters and features. Now adays....finding a "discount" version is very easy though ;)
