My son has been coughing for about two or 3 weeks now. He ONLY coughs at night. And its usually after hes been sleeping for a few hours. Then he just starts coughing. And his cough lasts up to an hour or longer. He doesnt have a cold or sick at all. He just coughs at night and I just dont get it. He has a humidifier in his room that I run every night, but that doesnt seem to help. Sometimes he coughs for so long and so hard he ends up making himself throw up. :( What is going on ? Why is this happening and ONLY at night?

his sinus' are probably draining.. he should prop himself up with pillows to sleep.. that might help.. it helps me.. and also it helps to put a warm compress over the eyes and right below.. to get the sinus' draining a bit.. and in the shower.. stand there with the hot water coming on your face.. yeah.. other than that.. i would say go to the doctor if it does not work!

good luck!

Maybe he has the croup- when he starts coughing, go into your bathroom , close the door and start the hot water in the shower until the room gets all steamed up. Then bring him in there and let him take deep breaths of the steam, or try putting vapor rub on his chest before you put him to bed.

Ok this might sound crazy but do check it out. If you have any old water leaks in your home that could be causing the very dangerous stachybotrys mold growth. If you have this mold in your home you have to get out immediately and leave everything behind. Check your home for any old water leaks inbetween walls or ceilings. The first sign of it are respitory symptoms

Take him to the doctor!! No offense anyone, but we're not doctors, and even if someone says that they are, they might be lying...do you really want to put your son's health at risk? Go to the doctor and really find out what's wrong. It's the safest thing to do!!
