There will never be a perfect time for a baby!!! If you wait for it...you won't have one. Only you know if you can afford it. a baby doesn't need all the things that people act like they do. As long as you can afford diapers, milk(or breast feed) and most of all health insurance the go for it!!!

Nobody is ever fully prepared for children...but you do need to have quite a bit of money set aside. A regular job with no extra bills should be fine. My husband is making $14 an hour and supports me and my 1 year old. We don't need much. All of our bills are paid, and we have everything we need for ourselves and our child. We always have money to spend. It is pretty much what you feel comfortable with. Anyone can do it. Just save some money.
Formula and diapers DO cost a lot!!

My husband is supporting myself and our three kids on $14.50 per hour. Its tight, but doable. The trick is to live by a budget and shop cheaply. I buy a lot of kids clothes used, since they grow so fast.
The most expensive times are when they are infants and need a lot of formula, diapers and gear ( crib, swing, bouncer, car seat, baby tub etc.). Then they get expensive again as teens when they think they need a phone, a car and whatever else the coolest kids in school have gotten from their parents.

A lot of money
Formula, diapers, bottles, clothes
Washing clothes
More clothes...kids grow so fast
Health insurance...about 7 grand to have a baby in the hosptial...
Shots, dentist, check ups, EMERGENCY TRIPS :)
More clothes and shoes
And if they are girls...hair stuff, make up, dress up
TOYS and Christmas
It cost a lot of money to have a child...
I would say at least 40000 a year...with sensible bills and no extras

I read that the first child costs the family $10,000 a year. That factors in the size of house or apartment, clothes, food, entertainment, activities, not college or private school tuition. Obviously you can cut corners wherever you want, but that is a ballpark figure.

If you lived modestly, you'd need about $30,000 a year. You'd definitely need a job that provides health insurance.
