I would say an animal shelter because you are helping an animal find a new home. Sometimes pet stores like PetSmart have adoption days, where a shelter brings animals to the store for adoption. We adopted our cats at an animal shelter, it was a no kill shelter. They were very careful about who they placed the animals with and basically interviewed us. The volunteers seemed to really enjoy themselves and took very good care of the animals.
Make sure you know all about the care your new pet will need and what to expect before you make that final step. Having a pet is wonderful, but you need to be prepared. It is only fair to the animal that you give it a good home. Hope you find a loving pet.

An animal shelter. Saving a life is a wonderful thing. Al of my pets have been rescues or from the shelter, and they all live to very old ages.

Always go through a breeder, I have a chocolate lab that I bought in a pet store and I have had nothing but issues with her health, and since there is no way to find out anything about her past we are stuck. I also have a boxer that I purchased through a breeder in Canada, I have had both good and bad experiences dealing with breeders so If you go this route you can ask for refrences for people who have purchased pups from them before. My boxer is great and it is comforting to know he was raised well and is not inbreed which can cause bad temperments or high strung behavior in dogs. For cats I went to the local shelter and my cat is unbelievable, he is tough and gets along great with my dogs.

The best place to get a pet is the animal shelter near you! I got my dog at a shelter, and she is the sweetest dog I have ever had!!!
Good luck on your dog search!

It all depends on the kind of pet. I personally prefer to adopt from a shelter or a breed rescue.

I like to go to the local Humane Society and rescue an abandoned animal. I currently have 2 cats from there and they are just wonderful. And, don't look at just the babies, remember that there are older animals that need love and a good home too. Please, please, please, don't forget that when you adopt a pet, they are your responsibility for their entire life...don't just get a pet on the spur of the moment, really think about it, ask yourself if you're ready for the responsibility. If you are, then good luck!!

It depends on what kind of pet you want. If you want a dog or a horse try the newspaper, a rabbit or a chinchilla try pet supplys plus, fish from petsmart.

At a shelter. Try and get one from a shelter that puts animals to sleep after a certain amount of time. If you can, try and get a little bit older animal. Save one from death.
