I have both a laptop and a PC, my son regularly uses the pc while i'm at work and both are connected to the internet. I recentley bought windows vista and i was wondering if i could install it on both computers?? I really don't mind what the method of doing such a thing would be, just as long as it doesn't block up either my laptop or my pc.

 Vista: You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices.

I’m very pleased to let you know you this morning (or afternoon, or evening, depending on where you are when you read this) that the Windows division has revised the retail license terms for Windows Vista in a significant way. Namely, the terms regarding license-to-device assignment of the retail product (including Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) now read as follows:
 You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices.
You can find the newly-revised retail license terms here, as I’m sure you’ll want to read them for yourself.
Our intention behind the original terms was genuinely geared toward combating piracy; however, it’s become clear to us that those original terms were perceived as adversely affecting an important group of customers: PC and hardware enthusiasts. You who comprise the enthusiast market are vital to us for several reasons, not least of all because of the support you’ve provided us throughout the development of Windows Vista. We respect the time and expense you go to in customizing, building and rebuilding your hardware and we heard you that the previous terms were seen as an impediment to that -- it’s for that reason we’ve made this change. I hope that this change provides the flexibility you need, and gives you more reason to be excited about the upcoming retail release of our new operating system.

Sorry, no. While you can install it on as many computers as you want, it can only be activated on one machine at a time using your software key. After you install Vista, you have 30 days to activate it. To activate, it connects to the MS server and makes sure your key isn't already in use and records it as being on your hardware. If the key is already in use, it won't activate and will go into reduced functionality mode - it will delete desktop icons and your start menu and won't allow you to do anything but purchase a legal copy from MS.

So it's one license per computer. You can purchase a license (without disc) cheaper than buying a whole second copy. I'm not sure if they're sold in stores, but you can probably order it from Amazon or Microsoft. They also have family packs (I think that's what they're called) where you can purchase one disc and multiple licenses at once.

It relies upon on the version. Beta variations enable for installation on distinctive structures yet very final variations do no longer enable for distinctive installations. yet you should puirtchase distinctive licences for the appliance & use them. abode windows notably counts the type of circumstances your OS is activated no rely on how many structures. i think of it extremely is 7 circumstances. in spite of in case you install your abode windows on the comparable systen for greater desirable than 7 circumstances your key turns into invalid. So there's a flaw interior the validation gadget there :) Please do no longer use it nonetheless. it extremely is a impediment that the appliance developer has. it is not our lenience to exploit it. we ought to consistently in fact be advising them on a thank you to strengthen or atleast tell them it extremely is misguided & enable them to discover a fashion of correcting it. Frankly in the event that they have been to tighten the noose we'd fairly discover it impossible to artwork with our application. thank you & Regards Vinod
