Red bell peppers are the very best for you! LOADED with vitamins A and C with lots of antioxidents. Deeply colored ones are high in bioflavonoids which are plant pigments that help prevent canccer, phenolic acids which inhibit the formation of cancer causing nitrosamines, and plant sterols which are precursors of vit D that are believed to protect against cancer. The one thing that you should keep in mind however is that bell peppers of any color should be bought organic if at all possible even though they are much more expensive. They are one of the top produce items which should always be bought organic as they accumulate and hold tons of pesticide residues and toxins when not farmed organically. Some of the others are potatos, apples, pears, peaches nectarines, celery, strawberries, and red rasberries. There are others which arent as important. My local TV station did a story on this recently and if you want to go to the story yourself it is wcco tv in mpls mn. Im sure the story is on their web site still. Probably WCCO.com
Best wishes!

They have about 30 calories depending on what type they are. The sweeter, yellow orange or red have a little bit higher of a calorie count. Besides having vitamins that are listed, it's important to remember that any fresh vegestable has enzymes and other goodness that you can't get from cooked foods, so although lucky charms might say they have more vitamins and minterals it doesn't necessarily mean its healthier.
