I am in high school. and when my teachers have us take notes, they usually use an over-head.... Unless, im like right next (within like 2 chairs) to the over-head, then when i look down at my paper to write, then back up, it takes me a while to re-adjust to see the words written. It slows me down & i have to take time.. the teacher gives us enough time, but it annoys me that it takes long for me to re-adjust and read whats written (in over-head marker)... I can only see out of one eye, since my other is blurred from a virus i got at age 2.... Any idea on how i can solve my problems? Please dont say glasses, id rather not wear them--they dont look that great on me... :\

This is actually quite common and has something to do with the light of the overhead projuector and the lights in the room. They counteract each other when they're both on. Try asking your teacher to turn the classroom lights off so that you can see better. If he won't, you might just have to copy someone else's notes.

Slow reaction versus brain functioning.

Did you know that depression can cause malfunctioning of the receptors in your brain?

A good remedy for this is too practice memory responses.

For instance take a glance at a picture in your hand any picture and then write down everything you seen in a split second of looking at the picture.

I have what is called photographic memory. I can speed read paragraphs in seconds and read several pages in a few minutes. This gift was discovered by my Teacher at Seaside High School in California when he observed me one day going through the microfiche so fast he thought I was playing around and then tested me and I got all the answers right.

I was born with the gift.
Maybe you should practice flash cards to help build and retain memory and that will help you stop having to look up and see what needs to be read and written all the time.

When I was in College, I would play Rock and Roll music when I studied and watched Football on T.V.

My friends say that I was crazy, but I passed all my exams too and graduated with only a 3.5 GPA.

People are different in many ways on study habits, but I find it very easy to study where people are screaming and laughing having a great time. Outdoor BBQ's Children coming up to me and asking me questions what I am doing and stuff like that. I retain it all.

I guess what I'm trying to say to you is that if your happier in a different environment studying....it's possible that change of desire will help you cope better in comprehension.
Good Luck....Al Rozz

Have an eye doctor check you out anyway. Glasses? Lots of people don't like the way they look in glasses. That's why they make contact lenses.

You don't say what kind of eye doctor you have. You need to be seen by an opthomologist who is a medical doctor. You might just need glasses to use during this time to avoid eye strain.

It doesn't matter what glasses look like on you, what matters is the fact that you can or cannot see. I would go have your eyes checked and quit worrying about the superficial aspects of life..
