the best thing i ever did was to purchase a dozen 'soothers' and keep them in the freezer. when baby was fretting from teething pain a frozen soother helped numb her gums!
once teething was over they were put away til the next tooth threatened our sanity!
everyone was happy and no drugs/ointments/gels of any kind were required.
give it a try!

I feel your pain! My nine month old is getting four top teeth at once! I just discovered Hyland's teething tablets!!! Love them, also at night before she goes to bed I let her suck on half of a twin stick popsicle. It feels good on her gums and she sleeps better. Good Luck!

The teething rings were not popular with my daughter. So in addition to ibuprofen (when necessary), she liked to gnaw on slices of frozen waffle. Bonus: Drool pockets!

I would give my baby Chidren's Tylenol. I would only give her half a dose though just to take the pain away. A full dose takes the pain away too but it knocks her out.
